Everyone wears black wool and a white shirt, so the eye has nothing to do but read the cut. The partner's suit is a millimeter sharper than the rest and carries one line of red stitching down the sleeve that the audience finds in the second half. The coat-dress lining is the same red, seen only when she sits.
