Fifty-eight looks for a film shot almost entirely at night on a real platform. The uniforms were made from a heavy navy wool that reads black on camera and blue under the lamps, which is what the cinematographer asked for. The trench was aged for three weeks so it would look like it had crossed the border more than once.
