Forty-eight court looks and one that matters: the tailor, in grey linen with a pincushion on his wrist, who never changes while everyone around him grows more gold. The brocade is a reproduction weave from Lyon; the panniers are cane and cotton tape the way they were made, because nothing modern swings the same. The wigs took longer than the gowns.
